Elkus, Abram Isaac

Elkus, Abram Isaac
(1867-1947)
   American lawyer. He was born in New York. He served as special US attorney to prosecute bankruptcy in 1908. In 1911 he was counsel for the New York State Factory Investigating Commission. He was ambassador in Turkey from 1916 to 1919, and then president of the New York Free Synagogue until 1927.
